My plan has been to establish a track record of success in order to make it difficult for traditional publishers to overlook my writing.
My typical process goes as follows. I write a rough draft and then polish a draft 2. I submit the manuscript to a professional editor (EFA member). He or she provides three rounds of edits: high-level development critique, line edits, and final thoughts. In between each round, I make changes and then send the updated manuscript back to the editor. While editing is taking place, I also submit the manuscript to my trusted group of beta readers who provide me with great feedback. Once editing and beta reading is complete, the manuscript goes to the proofreader. After proofreading, the manuscript is ready for members of my mailing list and ARCs. Then comes the official release on Amazon/KDP/Createspace.
Hey, Steve. You read and reviewed my second book, Beyond the Horizon (Beyond Saga #2). Thanks for the glowing praise! Book 3 is now available. If you're interested in finding out what the metatoy leads to for Maya, read on! Thanks again.
After years of pushing the boundaries of interstellar spaceflight, Commander Maya Davis is ecstatic when she is promoted to captain. But her enthusiasm wanes when she discovers that her new assignment is a one-way mission.
After taking command of the space-time vessel Yesterday, Maya must travel back in time to discover how and why a piece of 23rd century technology appeared 200,000 years earlier. It’s an exciting opportunity–except for the one-way aspect. The best minds of her time say it’s impossible to return to the present.
Trapped in the distant past, Maya must choose between a peace that could condemn humanity to perpetual slavery, or a fight for freedom that involves deception, rebellion, and mass murder. Whatever she decides, her actions may very well erase an entire civilization from history.
Go along with Captain Maya Davis as she travels 200,000 years in the past to discover how a piece of 23rd century technology became a part of history.
